Alex Iwobi will be out for a month with a hip injury he sustained in Arsenal’s 4-3 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, according to a report.
The Mirror claim that the 20-year-old wide forward will be sidelined for up to four weeks and will miss his side’s clashes against last season’s Premier League champions Leicester and Watford.
He also faces a race against time to be fit for the Gunners’ home league clash against Southampton on 10 September.
The young Nigeria international will also miss the first international break of the domestic campaign after opting to play for the country he was born in, despite representing England in the youth ranks.
Iwobi left the pitch around the hour mark during Sunday’s clash at Emirates Stadium and was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The winger left two minutes before midfielder Aaron Ramsey also picked up an injury and the pair join long-term absentees Danny Welbeck, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Carl Jenkinson on the sidelines.
However, it is believed that Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil will all be in contention for next week’s fixture against Leicester following their exertions at Euro 2016.
In other Arsenal team news, Joey Barton believes that the Gunners face a tough challenge to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
