Tottenham are weighing up an offer for Henrikh Mkhitaryan after deciding to compile a dossier on the Borussia Dortmund playmaker, Football Insider sources understand.
The Armenia international is a player in demand after a sensational season that ended with him being voted the Bundesliga player of the year by respected German publication Kicker.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Spurs have been alerted to the 27-year-old stalling on signing a new Dortmund contract.
Mkhitaryan’s current contract expires in 12 months, which has prompted interest from a string of leading European clubs including Arsenal and Juventus.
Spurs are evaluating the player’s background and his pedigree and have asked to be kept informed about his situation.
Mkhitaryan has had a brilliant season for Dortmund, scoring 23 goals and supplying an incredible 32 assists in 52 matches in all competitions.
In the Bundesliga alone, he scored 11 times and provided 20 assists from 31 games.
Arsenal are closely monitoring the playmaker even though he plays in the same No10 role as their record signing Mesut Ozil.
The source told Football Insider that there remains a strong prospect that Mkhitaryan, who joined Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, will sign a new contract with the German club.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are ready to sell a 23-year-old attacker amid interest from two Premier League outfits.
