Aaron Ramsey is convinced that Arsenal have a great opportunity to win the Premier League title this season.

The Welsh midfielder capped a perfect week for the Gunners with the second goal in their convincing 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

It was the third win in a row for Arsene Wenger’s team, following their 3-0 midweek Champions League triumph at Olympiakos and a 3-1 victory over Sunderland in the Premier League last weekend.

The win at Villa lifted Arsenal to the Premier League summit for at least 24 hours, as they climbed one point above Manchester City to reach 33 points.

“We believe we have an opportunity to win the title,” Ramsey told Sky Sports after the match. “We have shown so far what we are capable of doing and have to continue what we are doing. This is a busy part of the season and so we have to maintain our focus and belief and get through this period.

“Who knows what can happen in the second half [of the season] but we believe we can challenge for trophies and we will be up for it as well.”

The Gunners, who host Manchester City at Emirates Stadium in their next match on 21 December, will remain top of the Premier League table if Leicester do not defeat Chelsea on Monday night.
