Accrington have amusingly changed their Twitter bio following the defeat to West Ham.

The League Two side were cruelly defeated 1-0 on Wednesday night as Dimitri Payet scored a trademark free-kick in the 96th minute, to avoid the game going to extra-time.

West Ham bounced back from four defeats in their opening five league matches and secured a place in the EFL Cup last 16.

The Hammers have been drawn against London rivals Chelsea in the next round and will have home advantage for the tie.

Accrington saw the funny side of being the latest side to fall victim to Payet’s set-piece brilliance as they demonstrated on their official Twitter account.

“Not currently the world’s biggest fans of Dimitri Payet,” it read.

Accrington will be pleased with the efforts against West Ham and they put up a good fight against top-flight opposition.

West Ham made seven changes to the side that lost to West Brom on Saturday, with Alvaro Arbeloa and Edimilson Fernandes making their club debuts.

Payet was introduced to the match in the second-half and dealt the killer blow to Accrington late on.

The 29-year-old Frenchman has a better free-kick record than Cristiano Ronaldo over the last year and is a crucial part of the West Ham side.

Slaven Bilic’s side face two home pivotal home games against Southampton and Middlesbrough in the league next and will hope to climb out of the reegation places.

In other West Ham news, fans have mourned the destruction of Upton Park, as the historic ground went up in flames as the filming of ‘Final Score’ began.
