Gabby Agbonlahor posted a picture on Instagram with Aston Villa defender Micah Richards, prior to the 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
Striker Jonathan Kodjia scored a magnificent scissor kick to help his side to three points, with fellow forward Agbonlahor watching on from the stands.
Agbonlahor is currently on a six-week fitness programme, after manager Steve Bruce offered him a clean slate and a possible route back to the first team following his recent arrival at the club.
Right-back Richards is currently sidelined with an injury but joined with Agbonlahor on the striker’s Instagram account to wish the team good luck.
Agbonlahor has not featured for the Midlands club this season, after previous manager Roberto Di Matteo decided to freeze him out of the first-team picture.
Agbonlahor will have to face stiff competition for a starting place, with Kodjia, Ross McCormack, Rudy Gestede, Jordan Ayew, Andre Green and Libor Kozak, all featuring ahead of the attacker this season.
Villa are currently in 16th place, with 17 points from 14 games, and new manager Bruce is unbeaten in his first three games in charge.
He now travels to St Andrews next Sunday to take on his former side and the club’s fiercest rivals, Birmingham, in an eagerly awaited second City derby.
In other Aston Villa team news, Paul McGrath has provided his verdict on Twitter following the club’s 1-0 win against Fulham.
