Hakan Calhanoglu’s agent has claimed that Tottenham have shown an interest in the Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder.

The 22-year-old is highly-rated in Germany and is particularly well known for his set pieces.

The German Express has claimed that the player’s agent, Bektas Demirtas, has confirmed Spurs’ interest, while La Liga side Atletico Madrid have also been linked.

“It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me,” said Demirtas.

Calhanoglu joined Leverkusen from Hamburg in an £12million deal in the summer of 2014.

He has starred in 94 encounters for the club during his two-year stay with a return of 21 goals, but he was limited to a 74th minute substitute appearance in Sunday’s German Cup match against SC Hauenstein.

The versatile forward, who played on the left, right and down the middle last season still has three-years left on his contract.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been keen to add another attacking midfielder this summer, as Georges-Kevin N’Koudou’s transfer saga is still ongoing.

The Argentine boss still has Christian Erkisen, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Son Heung-Min as senior attacking midfield options in his squad.

However, Tottenham have only scored two goals in their opening two matches of the new campaign and Pochettino may be looking to add more of an attacking threat to his squad.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Hull have tabled a bid for Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason.
