Alan Shearer has congratulated Dwight Gayle on Twitter following his hat-trick for Newcastle against Norwich on Wednesday evening.
The 25-year-old forward netted a hat-trick as Newcastle completed a sensational comeback against the Canaries in a 4-3 victory at St James’ Park.
Gayle opened the scoring before Graham Dorrans, Cameron Jerome and Jacob Murphy struck to put their side 3-1 ahead.
It had looked like Gayle had scored a consolation goal on the 71st minute to take it to 3-2, but the striker netted the final goal with Yoan Gouffran also bagging in stoppage time to give their side a dramatic late victory.
Newcastle legend, Shearer took to Twitter after the game and congratulated his fellow striker on his personal Twitter account following Gayle’s three goals in the Championship clash.

Gayle has taken over Shearer’s prestigious number nine shirt as he looks to step into the boots of the player, who captained Newcastle and lead the line for 10 years between 1996 and 2006.
The former Crystal Palace man was going through a four-match goalless run before his hat-trick taking his tally up to an impressive seven goals in nine encounters since joining in the summer.
The Magpies face bottom of the league Rotherham next and they will be keen to start up a winning run.
