Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has congratulated Wayne Rooney in a personal video message on Twitter after the Everton forward scored his 200th Premier League goal.
The 31-year-old goal-machine fired home a goal which kept Everton ahead of Manchester City for most of the match on Monday night.
Rooney’s goal was his second in two league matches, and took his impressive tally up to 200.
Only one other player in history has scored 200 goals in the Premier League, and that is Newcastle legend, now TV pundit, Alan Shearer.
Following Rooney’s huge achievement Shearer sent a video message on the official Premier League Twitter account welcoming him to the “200 club”.
Shearer, who has scored a staggering 260 goals in the competition during his career, congratulated Everton’s new signing, and said: “Great achievement, where have you been man?”
“The 200 club has been a lonely place over the past few years. Well done, I’m sure you’ve got a few more in you.”

Rooney has achieved a number of milestone against his old rivals, Manchester City, after he also scored his 50th and 150th Premier League goals against the side.
The game was eventful, and amongst Rooney’s personal record, both teams were restricted to 10 men after City’s new signing Kyle Walker was sent off after receiving two yellows during his Etihad debut, while Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin was also shown red in the final minutes of the match.
Former Manchester United striker, Rooney, was just one of many signings which Ronald Koeman brought to Goodison Park this summer, and so far it’s proved incredibly positive with the club still undefeated this season.
In other Everton news, supporters blasted Koeman for starting this 27-year-old against Hadjuk.
