Alan Stubbs has surprisingly named Kolo Toure as Celtic’s best summer signing despite the huge success of fellow new teammate Mousa Dembele.

The 20-year-old striker completed a move to the Scottish giants from Championship outfit Fulham after an impressive breakthrough in England’s second tier.

He has picked up from where he left off with Celtic, scoring a sensational 13 goals in 18 encounters in all competitions and has been tipped by many as a future superstar.

However, former Hoops defender Stubbs doesn’t think Dembele is the best of the summer signings and has chosen the experienced Toure, stating that he’s improved what was a weak area of the squad.

“I think Kolo has had a huge impact,” stated Stubbs to the Scottish Sun.

“It’s not just his experience, I think he’s brought real quality. It was an area that everyone knew was a weak point in Celtic’s team.

“You saw that last season. It needed shoring up and needed strengthening.

“As well as his quality, he’s brought an assurance and a calmness. As a defender, you read things. At times last season, there was an edginess to Celtic’s backline.

“So he’s the one I would pick as the most significant signing for Celtic.

“The main thing is people are not talking about Celtic’s defence any more. I think that tells you everything.”

Toure, 35, rejoined manager Brendan Rodgers after his contract expired at Liverpool.

He has made 11 appearances for the club following his move with the club keeping two clean sheets with him in the team.

Fans of the Hoops will be hoping both Dembele and Toure keep up their impressive form in a big week, which will see them face Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League and fierce rivals Rangers in the Scottish League cup.

In other Celtic news, Andreas Christensen has stated that the Hoops have their own superstar in Moussa Dembele.
