Andre Ayew has revealed that West Ham players will prepare for the Tottenham clash by “releasing their minds” in the build up to the fixture at White Hart Lane.
The Hammers take on their London rivals on November 19, but at this moment in time a number of first-team players, including Ayew will be away on international duty.
Forward Ayew, who has missed a number of key games for his club side this season through injury will be looking forward to the Premier League showdown.
The 26-year-old has stated that he understands the importance of the game as Slaven Bilic’s side look to move away from the relegation zone.
“It’s a big game. It’s a London derby and everybody is going to be ready,” Ayew told the club’s official website. “Some of us will be away working with our national teams, while the boys at Rush Green will get back some energy and release their minds and prepare themselves for that game. It is going to be an important game for us.”
Ghana international Ayew has made only four Premier League and EFL Cup appearances for the Irons this term as he is yet to find the back of the net.
He was a £20 million summer signing from Premier League rivals Swansea, but injuries have disrupted the early part of his career in east London.
Bilic’s side are currently 17th in the league table with 11 points from the same number of games as Hull, who sit in the relegation zone are one point behind them.
In other West Ham team news, supporters on Twitter expressed mixed emotions as it was reported they could sign this World Cup winner in January.
