Arsenal and Chelsea are set to lock horns in the battle to sign Naza Bazan Vera from Velez Sarsfield, according to a report.

The Sun claim that both London clubs, along with Villarreal are interested in securing the services of the 17-year-old from the Primera Division side.

The exciting attacker is on the verge of joining the first team ranks after topping the scoring charts for his age group.

The London rivals have been alerted to the fact that the youngster would not need to gain a work permit, as he has a European passport, which will allow him to move instantaneously.

Work permit issues have already affected the Gunners this summer, as Japanese striker Takuma Asano was rejected a permit to come and play in England, leaving his short-term future uncertain.

Scouts have reportedly likened Vera to fellow Argentine Paulo Dybala, the brilliant Juventus forward who has made a huge impact in Italian football since moving to Palermo as an 18-year-old.

His mature physique has impressed scouts, who report he could make an instant impact due to his speedy growth.

Vera has pedigree, as he is the nephew of Daniel Bazan Vera, who has scored more than 300 goals in Argentinian club football.

In other Arsenal transfer news, this prolific striker has revelaved his transfer plans after Gunner bid.
