Arsenal have contacted Inter Milan officials regarding a move for their midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to a report.

The Croatian midfielder made three appearances at Euro 2016, and has been linked with a move to England with the Gunners’ Premier League rivals Liverpool said to be interested, according to Spanish news outlet AS.

The Daily Mirror have now claimed that the former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder could be part of a sensational deal that will see him move to The Emirates, and contact has been made.

A deal is far from being struck though, as manager Arsene Wenger is keen on Inter lowering the £25million asking price.

The 23-year-old can play as a box-to-box central midfielder, or in a more advanced role, and scored seven goals in all competitions last season, providing five assists.

Brozovic joined Inter on an initial 18-month loan deal in the 2015 winter window and his form for the Serie A giants convinced Mancini to tie him down on a permanent basis this summer.

The midfielder, who has earned 20 caps for Croatia so far, has three years remaining on his San Siro deal and manager Roberto Mancini will want to keep Brozovic as he looks to reshape the Inter squad.

Arsenal have made three signings this summer, with the £35million arrival of Gladbach’s Granit Xhaka, as well as youngsters Rob Holding and Takuma Asano.

In other Arsenal news, Wenger is ready to reject clubs as they pursue this fringe player.
