Arsenal and Leicester are interested in signing Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa, according to a report.
Spanish news outlet Cope has claimed that the Premier League duo have made contact over a January transfer for the 27-year-old.
The midfielder was lined up to move to Sevilla in the summer, but the deal fell through and it is said Las Palmas now want to extend his contract.
The Gunners made the move to bring in midfielder Granit Xhaka in the summer in a £30million deal from Borussia Monchengladbach, while they also allowed Jack Wilshere to leave on loan for Bournemouth to get more game time away from a stocked midfield.
The club currently has Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny competing for a place in the centre, but Wenger may see Mesa as an upgrade to his current options.
The Spanish midfielder featured in 39 encounters in the last campaign, playing a key role in helping Las Palmas finish in 11th place in La Liga after winning promotion to the league in the previous campaign.
He has four years left on his current deal and has played in all four matches for Las Palmas in the new campaign, with the side currently sat in third place.
