Arsenal should set-up in a 4-4-2 formation which includes a strike partnership of Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez against Manchester City.
Granit Xhaka should be axed to make way for Giroud in a changed formation.
City’s attacking threat in midfield should prompt a formation change from Arsene Wenger so his side avoid getting over-run and he should start Giroud so Arsenal have an aerial target up front.
Arsenal already have a weakened defence with Shkodran Mustafi out of the side through injury so Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott should drop deeper into midfield on the wings.
Giroud should partner Sanchez up front so Arsenal have options on the counter-attack and on set-pieces.
Mesut Ozil should start in the centre of midfield but at the top of a diamond, with Francis Coquelin at the bottom, meaning Xhaka misses out.
Gabriel is the best option at centre-back in Mustafi’s absence so he should retain his place alongside Laurent Koscielny, in front of Petr Cech.
Hector Bellerin’s return has been a boost and he should definitely start at right-back while Nacho Monreal has been equally as solid in the left-back role.
Aaron Ramsey, Lucas Perez, Alex Iwobi and Xhaka all miss out but they would be four attacking options for Wenger to bring on as substitutes if need be.
