Olivier Giroud was named in the starting XI against Paris Saint-Germain – and Arsenal fans were thrilled on Twitter.

The 30-year-old has been handed just his second start of the season in all competitions after his positive impact on Saturday.

The striker was used as a second-half substitute against Manchester United and scored an 89th minute equalising header in the 1-1 draw.

Arsene Wenger has made four changes to his starting XI for the Champions League match against PSG, as cited by the club’s official Twitter account.

The Gunners are battling for top spot with PSG in their Champions League group, with both teams already guaranteed a place in the knockout rounds.

Arsenal fans were pleased to see Giroud named in the starting line-up after his recent contributions.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Giroud has already scored one Champions League goal this campaign as he netted in the 3-2 away victory against Ludogorets.

The French international will now want to stake his place for a regular start and impress his manager Wenger.

The Arsenal boss has decided to move Alexis Sanchez into a wide role and bring in Giroud to spearhead the attack.

He has managed four goals in nine appearances this season and will want to add to that goal tally as the Gunners pursue top spot.

The north London club will be hoping to top the group and secure an easier opponent in the last 16 of the competition.

In other Arsenal team news, Wenger claims this midfielder will have long-term consequences after his injury.
