Lyon have revealed that they rejected a bid of £29.5million for striker Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal earlier in the summer.
The Gunners haven’t come back with a higher bid and fans of the club are asking why Arsene Wenger hasn’t offered more.
The Ligue 1 giants released a statement via social media revealing that the club had rejected a £29.5million bid from Arsenal for striker Alexandre Lacazette.
However, they also denied claims that had said the north London club had returned with a £40million bid.
Many fans are a bit confused as to why Arsene Wenger offered less money than the reported offer West Ham put in for the French striker, while some have compared it to the Luis Suarez saga, which saw Arsenal leave empty-handed.
Here are a selection of the fans’ reactions to the bid on Twitter.
Arsenal offering less money for Lacazette than West Ham….and you want to get a striker to improve your team? Lmaooo

@forevercream West Ham bidded €37M for Lacazette & it got rejected then we bidded €35M when Lyon we're asking for €40M

If true & Arsenal made a lower bid for Lacazette than West Ham's bid which got turned down, then that is incredibly stupid

Arsene Wenger will also be keen to bring in a striker for the forthcoming campaign, with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott the only experienced options available at the moment, but it’s becoming clear that he may have to spend more than he is willing to obtain a forward.
In other Arsenal transfer news, Real Madrid have given versatile Spanish forward Jese Rodriguez permission to leave the Berneabeu.
