Aaron Ramsey was named in Arsenal’s starting XI on Tuesday night – and fans were thrilled to see the midfielder return to the side.

The 25-year-old made his return from injury off the bench in the 4-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday and gets his first start since the opening day of the season.

The Welshman has been absent with a hamstring injury for the majority of this season, but has a chance to prove himself ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with bitter rivals Tottenham.

Arsenal face an away match against Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the Champions League group stages on Tuesday and will hope to repeat the 6-0 scoreline from the reverse fixture.

Arsenal fans were overjoyed to see the return of Ramsey to the side, but some of them were questioning whether he would play on the wing.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Arsenal’s team sheet appears to suggest that Ramsey will play on the right wing and he could have the licence to drift inside.

The central midfielder has become a crucial player for the Gunners since he joined as a youngster in 2008, going on to make 269 appearances for the club.

He enjoyed an impressive European Championships with Wales and helped them to an unlikely semi-final.

Ramsey faces a tough battle to get back into the midfield with Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka all fighting for a position.

In other Arsenal team news, their player is training separately ahead of the crucial north London derby.
