Jose Mourinho is considering a move for Mesut Ozil – and Arsenal supporters have issued a hands off warning on Twitter.
The Sun claim that Manchester United manager Mourinho is preparing a move for the 28-year-old as he is yet to agree a new deal at the Emirates.
Ozil’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2017/18 season and he is already the club’s highest-paid player on £140,000-a-week, but the player’s advisors and Arsenal chiefs are at a stand-off in contract negotiations.
It is reported that the German international has already snubbed a new £160,000-a-week deal with the Gunners and Mourinho is prepared to offer a staggering £250,000-a-week.
The Sun claim that United would make a move in the summer transfer window as they accept a January move would be very unlikely.
Arsenal fans claim that they fully expect Ozil to remain at the Emirates and claim Mourinho is playing mind games.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Ozil has become a fan favourite at the Emirates since his arrival from Real Madrid, where he achieved great success under the management of Mourinho.
The attacking midfielder has made 131 appearances for the north London club, scoring 27 goals and supplying 47 assists.
Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford in the summer and his side are struggling despite the wealth of talent at their disposal, including the world’s most expensive player £89million midfielder Paul Pogba.
His side are currently sixth-placed in the table and are six points adrift of Arsenal in fourth after 11 league games.
In other Arsenal transfer news, their supporters have reacted on Twitter to Olivier Giroud’s controversial comments.
