Arsenal fans reacted with delight on Twitter after Jack Wilshere was recalled to the England squad to face Scotland and Spain during the international break.
The on-loan midfielder was omitted from the national squad for the October internationals following his loan move to Bournemouth.
But he has now been recalled by England in the 25-man squad announced by interim manager Gareth Southgate on Sunday night.
The 24 year-old struggled to get regular first team action under Arsene Wenger last season due to injuries and only notched up three league appearances in the entire campaign, with all of those coming off the bench.
However, since joining the Cherries, he’s made eight league appearances and his performance against Bournemouth on Saturday was his third consecutive full 90 minute game.
“Of course, Jack Wilshere is a player that we feel has a lot of class and is now starting to get more 90-minutes under his belt. It’s good to bring him back into the squad,” Gareth Southgate told FA’s official website.
Alongside Wilshere, there was only one other Arsenal teammate called up to the England squad, as Theo Walcott was included but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t make the cut.
Arsenal fans took to social media to give their verdicts on the midfielder’s performance.
