Arsenal are interested in signing young striker Andre Silva from Porto, according to a report.

Portuguese news outlet O Jogo has claimed that the Gunners sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old during the match between Porto and Leicester in the Champions League last week.

However, his price tag could prove to be a stumbling block after the attacker agreed a new five-year deal with the country giants in the summer, which included a £52.8million release clause, according to ESPN.

The youngster has scored six goals and provided three assist in 11 encounters for his side in all competitions in the new campaign and is turning into one of the brightest prospects in Europe.

He also made his senior debut for Portugal in September, during his country’s 5-0 victory over Gibraltar.

Arsenal are believed to be keen in adding a forward to their squad with attacker Alexis Sanchez currently leading the line in a position he is not known for.

The Gunners added Spanish forward Lucas Perez to their side in the summer, who has bagged two goals in his first three appearances for the club.

However, experienced striker Olivier Giroud is currently goalless after four appearances for the north London club in the new campaign.

In other Arsenal transfer news, Per Mertesacker has claimed his Gunners career is not over but hinted he could leave the club in January.
