Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla are as creative as the entire Manchester United squad put together, new statistics reveal.

The Gunners’ playmakers have created a total of 81 chances in the Premier League this season, which is the exact same number as United’s entire squad.

This sheds fresh light on claims that United lack adventure under Louis van Gaal, while highlighting the creativity of Ozil and Cazorla.

The German is in the best form of his Arsenal career and extended his lead at the top of the Premier League assists table to nine, with his two assists in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Swansea.

Deep-lying playmaker Cazorla has also weighed in with three assists in the competition this season.

Arsenal have scored 21 goals in 11 Premier League matches. By contrast, fourth-placed United have scored 15 goals and been held to three consecutive goal-less draws.

Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has added his voice to those who claim United lack the enterprise and adventurous spirit of teams of old.

Speaking after the 0-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday, the Frenchman observed: “Yes, they are a big club and yes, they can keep the ball – passes, passes, passes – but if you work hard against them and stay in a good shape they can’t do anything to pass through you or be adventurous.”

In other Arsenal news, Football Insider understands that the Gunners have no plans to extend Arsene Wenger’s contract.
