Arsenal have offered a four-year contract to Alexis Sanchez, Football Insider sources understand.

The London giants have made a fresh attempt to secure their talismanic forward to a new long-term deal beyond 2018, when his current agreement expires.

An Arsenal recruitment source has told Football Insider that the club are increasingly hopeful of Sanchez agreeing a new contract that will run until 2020.

The Chile international signed a four-year deal worth £130,000-a-week when he joined for £32million from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet of manager Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has admitted that Arsenal have been in talks with Sanchez and that they are keen to tie him down to a new agreement.

Sanchez was outstanding in his first campaign at Emirates Stadium before a second season in which he was less effective, partly due to a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two months.

The 27-year-old has been given a new role as the spearhead of the attack this season and has responded with some excellent displays, scoring eight goals and supplying seven assists in 16 matches in all competitions.

Since joining Arsenal, Sanchez has scored 50 goals and provided 30 assists in 107 games, with 35 of his goals coming from 77 Premier League encounters.

In other Arsenal news, Wenger has claimed this midfielder has a far-reaching problem.
