Arsenal have sent scouts to watch highly-rated PSV Eindhoven winger Matthias Verreth, after the youngster broke into the reserve team, according to a report.
Italian website, Calcio Mercato, reports that the 18 year-old could be on Arsene Wenger’s radar after catching their attention with recent performances in the Dutch second division.
Arsenal could be forced to battle it out against Serie A giants, AC Milan, should they act on their interest in the transfer window.
The report says both sides have sent scouts to watch the youngster and are monitoring his progress as he plays for PSV’s B team.
The Belgian Under-19 international has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the reserve side this season and has scored two goals.
His side are currently top of the league and Verreth has been one of the stand-out performers, operating as an intelligent pacey winger.
Verreth attracted attention with performances during the Under-17 World Cup in Chile as he helped Belgium finish third in the competition.
The 18 year-old has scored five times while on international duty and has notched up 27 caps for the Belgium youth side already.
In other Arsenal transfer news, this senior player has vowed his main priority is to secure another contract.
