Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been rated the best midfielder in the Premier League in the latest edition of FIFA.

Game designers EA Sports have released the player ratings from the much anticipated FIFA 17 console game, and they’ve put Ozil at the top of the tree of Premier League midfielders.

The German talisman, rated 89 out of 99 in the game, beat football’s most expensive player Paul Pogba (88), as well as rivals Dimitri Payet (86), David Silva (87) and Eden Hazard (88) to the number one spot.

Ozil did not top the overall Premier League player ratings chart though as Sergio Aguero (also 89, but ranked higher), David de Gea (90) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (90) all placed higher in the franchise.

The top spot in the game fell to Cristiano Ronaldo who is rated a staggering 94, one more than Ballon d’Or rival Lionel Messi, who scored 93.

Arsenal supporters will be delighted to see their club-record signing rated so highly in the game.

Gunners fans have developed a reputation for their staunch support of the 27-year-old who arrived in north London from Real Madrid in 2014.

Ozil enjoyed a stunning individual campaign last term, scoring eight goals and providing 20 assists in all competitions for his side.
