Jack Wilshere has stated everybody will be happy if Bournemouth can beat Chelsea on Boxing Day and as a result do his parent club Arsenal a favour.
Midfielder Wilshere made a season-long loan move to the south coast from north London during the summer.
The 24-year-old is expected to take to the field when his Cherries side travel to Stamford Bridge to take on leaders Chelsea on Monday afternoon.
Antonio Conte’s side are nine points clear of their London rivals at the top of the Premier League table going into a busy festive period.
But, Wilshere is hoping to end the Blues winning run when his free-scoring Bournemouth side take on the league leaders.
“It is a difficult game going to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are a good team, they are unbeaten for 11 games,” said Wilshere, as quoted by the Mirror.
“They look strong. I want Arsenal to do well so if we can beat them and do Arsenal a favour, everyone is happy.”
England international Wilshere has played 15 games for Bournemouth this season, providing one assist, but he is yet to find the back of the net.
Eddie Howe’s side are tenth in the league table on 21 points from 17 games, scoring 23 goals during those fixtures.
A victory for the home side on Boxing day would mean a 12th consecutive win and the possibility of opening up a 12 point lead on the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger’s side host Tony Pulis’ West Brom on the very same day, looking to pick themselves up after a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City last time out.
But dropped points against the Midlands outfit could see the north London club being overtaken by their bitter rivals Tottenham, who are one place and one point below them in the table.
