Mesut Ozil returns for Arsenal in their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The Germany World Cup winner was rested as Arsenal brushed aside Sunderland 3-1 in their FA Cup third-round match last Saturday.

But Ozil is set to return to the Gunners’ starting line-up at Anfield alongside Aaron Ramsey, Nacho Monreal, Mathieu Flamini and Per Mertesacker.

Ozil took part in full training on Tuesday ahead of the Anfield fixture and gave his verdict on the match to photographers.

Wrapped up in a snood and gloves to protect himself from the chill at the Gunners’ London Colney training headquarters, Ozil lifted up three digits of his left hand and made a ‘zero’ with his right to indicate a 3-0 scoreline.

It is assumed that Ozil was predicting a convincing 3-0 triumph for Arsenal, who head to Merseyside well placed at the Premier League summit on 42 points, 12 ahead of Liverpool in eighth position.

The club’s record signing has been a key figure in their title challenge, leading the assists charts with 16, more than double that of nearest rival, Kevin de Bruyne.
