Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are set to be handed recalls for Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Southampton on Tuesday night, Football Insider sources understand.

Arsene Wenger will ring the changes after he selected a weakened team for last Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Burnley.

Ozil, Ramsey, Petr Cech, Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin are expected to return to the starting X1, while Per Mertesacker, who is back after serving a one-match suspension, Theo Walcott, Mathieu Flamini and Joel Campbell will also come into the reckoning for a starting place.

Ozil, Ramsey and Flamini were rested from the squad completely at the weekend, while regulars Cech, Monreal, Bellerin, Walcott and Campbell dropped to the bench.

Flamini faces competition for his place in the coming weeks from fit-again Francis Coquelin and new signing Mohamed Elneny, although the latter pair are unlikely to be given a second start in four days after so long without a match.

In other Arsenal team news, Tomas Rosicky is facing another lengthy absence with a thigh injury sustained in his comeback against Burnley.
