Arsenal want £4million for Joel Campbell amid interest in the striker from Palermo, Football Insider sources understand.

The Serie A club are keen to sign the Costa Rica international on loan but the Gunners are holding out for a permanent deal.

Campbell has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract and the current window represents the last opportunity for the Londoners to get a significant transfer fee.

The 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Emirates Stadium, where he is behind Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck in the forward pecking order.

Arsenal are reluctant to sanction another loan for Campbell, who has had temporary spells at Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiakos and Villarreal since moving to north London in 2011.

Talks have taken place with Palermo but the two clubs have not been able to agree a deal.
