Ashley Cole hailed Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace as proof that the team can go all the way and win the Premier League title.

Former Blues defender Cole was impressed as Antonio Conte’s side chalked up a club-record 11th straight league win on ¬†Saturday afternoon.

A Diego Costa header after 43 minutes was enough to seal the three points and extend Chelsea’s lead at the top of the table to a remarkable nine points.

Liverpool and Arsenal, who play on Monday and Sunday respectively, can narrow the gap over the next 48 hours, but Cole believes there is an ominous look to the team assembled by Conte.

Asked for his verdict on Chelsea’s win, Cole told Sky Sports 1’s live coverage of the match: “I thought it was a Championship winning performance.

“They did not score the goals that we know they can but it was a great defensive performance. Everyone worked hard and they deserved the result.”

It was a third consecutive 1-0 triumph for Conte’s side and, remarkably, the sequence of 11 wins have coincided with the manager’s switch to a 3-4-3 formation.

Chelsea have accumulated 43 points from their 17 league matches, nine ahead of second placed Liverpool, who travel to Everton for the Merseyside derby on Monday.

Arsenal have an equally difficult fixture on Sunday, when they are away to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
