Jack Grealish has dampened fears among Aston Villa fans that he is injured by revealing on Twitter that he missed the England Under-21s’ 3-2 win over Italy on Thursday due to illness.
The 21-year-old sat out the five goal thriller at St Mary’s as Aidy Boothroyd’s side scored a stoppage time winner to extend their unbeaten run to 15 games.
Southampton defender Jack Stephens scored with the last kick of the game as Demarai Gray and Lewis Baker also got on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Grealish, who has been in fine form for Villa in the Championship this term, had to watch from the bench as the young Lions secured a dramatic victory.

Grealish has made an impressive start to his England career, after switching allegiances from Republic of Ireland last season.
He has made five appearances for the England youngsters, where he has scored two goals and provided two assists.
The Villa academy product will be hoping to be fit in time to earn a first-team spot when Boothroyd’s side travel to France for another tough friendly fixture.
