Aston Villa’s Joe Bennett has revealed he would love to return to Sheffield Wednesday next season.

The full-back has been limited to just four appearances for the Owls because of injury since joining on loan from Villa in January, but admitted he was eager to return to the club.

Bennett joined Villa from Middlesbrough in 2012, but has spent a majority of his four years away from Villa Park on loan with various other clubs.

The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with Villa, but has only made 38 appearances for the club in his four years at the club.

Wednesday were narrowly beaten 1-0 in the Championship play-off final on Saturday by Hull and Bennett tweeted after the game he was open to return to the club.

Villa were relegated into the Championship this season and Bennett could face off against his former side in the upcoming campaign.

Bennett’s current deal is up in June 2017 and he has previously had loan spells with Bournemouth and Brighton and Hove Albion.
