Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to reveal the club are trying to complete two new signings by the end of this week.
The Chinese businessman claimed the club are working on deals for a “world-class striker” and a “new full-back” and hope to have them wrapped up by Sunday.
Xia did not disclose the identity of the players but Spanish publication Fichajes reported that Hull City’s Abel Hernandez is a target, while Villa have also been strongly linked with Chelsea’s Patrick Bamford and Huddersfield’s Nakhi Wells.
Xia delivered the latest transfer update on his personal Twitter account on Sunday evening.
The tantalising hint suggests that Villa fans can expect two new signings this week ahead of their Championship clash this weekend away to Bristol City, as they will look to earn back-to-back wins.
Villa have already signed Tommy Elphick, Pierluigi Gollini, Aaron Tshibola, Ross McCormack, James Chester and Mile Jedinak in this summer’s window.
