Wolves have reportedly appointed Paul Lambert as their new manager – and Aston Villa fans on Twitter have provided mixed views on his soon-to-be appointment.

Tim Nash, a former Wolves correspondent for the Express & Star has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 47-year-old has been appointed boss of the Championship club.

The Midlands club sacked former Italy goalkeeper, Walter Zenga, as manager, after only 87 days in charge in October.

Lambert, who was a well accomplished midfielder during his playing days, was sacked by Villa in February 2015, leaving the club with only 25 wins from his 101 games in charge.

Some supporters cited his time at Villa, where many felt, he played dreadful football and recruited badly during his time at the club.

But, there were those, who feel he was let down by the club’s former owner, Randy Lerner, with one person stating that Lambert will be a “safe” appointment for Wolves.

Overall, the Villa faithful had mixed views on his possible appointment, with supporters keen to see how he performs with an ambitious owner, who will provide him with money, as they aim for promotion.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

If Lambert were to take charge of the Molineux club, then he will join a side that is 17th in the league table with 17 points after 15 games.

In other Aston Villa news, owner Tony Xia has blasted the club’s midfielder over his nonsense claims.
