Jordan Ayew has picked up an injury while on international duty with Ghana and could miss Saturday’s clash with Wolves – and fans on Twitter see it as a blessing in disguise.
The Birmingham Mail state that the 25-year-old Ghana international picked up an unspecified injury and has returned to the club’s training ground Bodymoor Heath for treatment.
But Villa fans on Twitter saw it as an opportunity for the club to play some of the other attackers in the side.
One fan backed Ross McCormack to start at the weekend against Wolves, as he expressed his joy at the attacking strength for the Championship club.
Other supporters were hoping the versatile attacker’s injury was not too serious, with McCormack, Rudy Gestede, Albert Adomah, Jack Grealish and Jonathan Kodjia the other attacking options.
However, one fan was critical at Ayew by stating the Villa strikers will get decent crosses into the box if he is to be replaced out wide.
Here is a selection of messages from Aston Villa supporters on Twitter reacting to the Ayew injury news:
Some players including Jonathan Mensah, Jordan Ayew and Afriyie Acquah could not travel with the team due to injuries.

Ayew being injured is gonna be a blessing in disguise I reckon. A chance to have some consistency with team selections #avfc

Ayew has been ever-present for the Villa Park club, playing in all 12 games this season and scoring two goals supplemented by three assists.
The claret & blue side are languishing in 19th place in the Championship, with ten points from 11 games, as they search for their fourth manager in 12 months.
In other Aston Villa team news, the club’s former manager believes the job was a trap.
