Aston Villa have been linked with interest in Tottenham defenders DeAndre Yedlin and Kieran Trippier – and Villa fans have reacted buoyantly to the news.
The Mail claim the Midlands club have made an approach for right-back Trippier on loan.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph reports that Villa have also identified fringe player Yedlin as one of two key targets to fill their problem right-back position.
The two players failed to make Spurs’ opening day squad against Everton on Saturday and both are considered behind first choice right-back Kyle Walker.
The Villa Park club currently have Leandro Bacuna as their first choice right-back and fans have spoken of their excitement after being linked with the two Spurs men.

I'd take either of Trippier or Yedlin at Villa! Make it happen Tone #AVFC

Yedlin yes, Yedlin no ….?#AVFC definitely need to adopt an ABH policy on the RB position.
Which is to say …

May just be rumours but Kieran trippier and Brit Assombalonga would be super signings. When Adama goes need a pacey winger #avfc

Getting Trippier in on loan and letting Hutton leave would be great business. Hutton puts in effort but clearly lacks quality #avfc

Trippier is regarded as Kyle Walker’s deputy at right-back and made 19 appearances for Spurs last season following his move from Burnley.
Yedlin spent last season on loan at Sunderland, helping them to maintain their Premier League status, and is now believed to be surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.
It has been reported that both Derby and Hull have already submitted bids for the USA international.
Roberto Di Matteo could still be keen to improve on his defence, which has so far this season conceded five goals in the club’s opening four matches in all competitions after suffering relegation last campaign.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, Joleon Lescott has turned down a move to Rangers.
