Roberto Di Matteo has just two games to save his Aston Villa job- and supporters urged owner Tony Xia to be patient, before he takes any drastic action.

The Guardian claim that the manager must win one of the club’s next two matches or face being sacked.

Villa face two away fixtures against Barnsley and Preston in their next matches and Di Matteo will need his side to pick up some much-needed wins.

Supporters urged Xia not to be “rash” in his decision making and give Di Matteo time, as it is still early in the season with only nine games played.

Another fan backed the Italian by stating Aaron Tshibola’s late equalising goal against Newcastle on Saturday will spark the much needed fight back from the Midlands side.

But another pointed out that, if Di Matteo fails to get wins against Barnsley or Preston, then that leaves his record at one win in ten games, which is simply not good enough considering the £50 million that was spent during the summer.

Overall supporters urged the owner to patient, as the season is still in its early stages, but the Villa Park faithful understood that the wins need to come.

Here is a selection of messages from Villa fans on Twitter giving their views on Di Matteo’s future.
