Mile Jedinak scored a crucial goal for Australia on Tuesday – and Aston Villa supporters reacted with mixed thoughts on Twitter to his performance.
Australia earned a 1-1 draw with Japan in their World Cup qualifier and midfielder Jedinak netted a second-half equaliser from the penalty spot.
The Villa midfielder celebrated his first goal of the season after a difficult start in club football.
Jedinak, 32, moved to Villa Park in the summer from Crystal Palace and has is yet to taste victory with his new side.
The Midlands club have recently sacked Roberto Di Matteo and interim manager Steve Clarke is in charge for the immediate future, with Steve Bruce, Sean Dyche and David Wagner amongst those linked with the permanent job.
Villa supporters have given mixed responses on Twitter about Jedinak and it appears the jury is still out.
Here are a selection of the messages:
Jedinak was expected to be a part of a Villa side challenging for promotion in the Championship this season, instead they are languishing in 19th place and have just 10 points from 11 league games.
The Australian central midfielder has a wealth of top-flight experience and made 179 appearances for Palace.
He will hope to improve his recent performances and propel Villa up the table.
In other Aston Villa news, Brett Holman has summed the club up with a scathing one-word verdict.
