Ross McCormack’s blushes were spared by the linesman’s flag as he missed an open goal by three yards, but Aston Villa fans on Twitter were still in shock at his miss.
Despite being ruled offside, McCormack was unaware at the linesman’s decision as he completely fluffed Albert Adomah’s low cross.
The 30-year-old somehow managed to hit the ball back to the keeper, who had already been well beaten by the cross.
Despite the chance being ruled offside supporters on Twitter still labelled McCormack’s sitter as “miss of the season”.
While other fans were quick to explain that the Scotland intentional is running low on confidence this season.
But another supporter did have sympathy for the experienced Championship striker, who had another off game for the Midlands club.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

McCormack joined Villa during the summer transfer window for a fee of £12 million pound from Championship rivals Fulham.
However, he has struggled to find the back of the net since his big money move, with only two goals in 13 Championship and EFL Cup appearances.
In other Aston Villa team news, supporters on Twitter were happy with Albert Adomah’s performance against Blackburn.
