Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye is on the verge of leaving the club – but supporters on Twitter did not seem too fussed by his impending exit.
ESPN claimed on Thursday afternoon that Gueye was undergoing a medical at Everton after being given permission by Villa to travel to Merseyside to finalise a move that has been in the offing since Ronald Koeman’s side triggered his £7.2million release clause.
Despite his club’s relegation last term, the hard working midfielder was one of a few shining lights in a wretched Villa team.
But, many Villa supporters felt they could replace the midfielder as they wished him well at his new club as he begins a second season in the Premier League.
The supporters agreed with one another as they pointed out the flaws in his attacking game and his inability to hold the ball despite having incredible defensive stats.
The Midlands outfit paid £9million for Gueye as he made a summer move from France to England for then-manager Tim Sherwood, but one supporter was disappointed that the club will not be able to get the money back they paid for him.
Here are the supporters reacting to the news of Gueye’s departure on Twitter:
@TheHolteTweets really.. Good player? Can break up play but gives the ball straight back all the time

@TheHolteTweets just got to replace him properly, won’t be missed if that’s done
