Aston Villa fans are delighted on Twitter as manager Roberto Di Matteo is set to be sacked in the next 48 hours.
Villa have endured a dismal start to Championship life following their relegation from the Premier League, winning just once in 12 league and cup encounters.
Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Preston appears to have been the last straw for the former Champions League winning manager, as Tony Xia is set to wield his managerial axe for the first time as Villa owner.
The Telegraph revealed Xia will end Di Matteo’s reign as Aston Villa boss over the next 48 hours, as the international break looms.
Fans have reacted on Twitter with relief with Di Matteo getting the brunt of the blame for the club’s catastrophic form.
Here are a selection of their tweets:

I do feel bad for Di Matteo, seems a genuine nice bloke but completely clueless tactically, and when picking his teams, farewell RDM #AVFC

I feel sorry for Di Matteo as a person he seems nice. Very frustrated the rebuild hasn't worked again though and no youth promotion #avfc

One fan believes one team’s loss is another’s gain, after tweeting that Di Matteo would be a good fit for the England job.

Di Matteo spent over £50 million on transfers during the summer window, but was unable to stop the rut of his side consistently scoring late goals.
The Midlands club dropped a possible eight points from winning positions, as they conceded goals after the 85th minute in five out of eleven league games this season.
