Jonathan Kodjia missed a penalty and scored a goal as Aston Villa beat QPR 1-0 at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon – and fans on Twitter were delighted with his display.

The 27-year-old, who had his penalty saved by R’s keeper Alex Smithies in the first-half, redeemed himself after the break when his low strike secured all three points for Steve Bruce’s side.

The promotion expert made six changes to the starting XI that lost 1-0 in midweek to Norwich and the players responded in emphatic fashion.

Fans on Social Media were in particular impressed with Kodjia who led the Villa front line brilliantly as he scored his first away goal since October.

One supporter stated how Villa will miss the Ivory Coast international during the middle of January and start of February when he represents his home country in the African Cup of Nations.

He has scored eight goals for Villa this term, including helping Bruce secure six wins in 11 Championship games since his arrival in mid-October.

Along with Kodjia fans also singled out defensive duo James Chester and Nathan Baker, who helped their side keep a much-needed clean sheet.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Kodjia has made 17 league appearances for Villa this season following his big money move from Bristol City in the summer. He has found the net on eight occasions.

Bruce’s side are now 13th in the table on 31 points from 22 games, six points behind Sheffield Wednesday who occupy the final play-off spot.

The Midlands side host Burton Albion on Boxing Day, before taking on Leeds at Villa Park three days later.

In other Aston Villa news, this summer signing is becoming a hindrance on the team following their win at QPR.
