Aston Villa have identified Nahki Wells and Patrick Bamford as their chief striker targets before the window shuts – and fans have revealed who they want the club sign.
The Telegraph claim that Roberto Di Matteo and his staff want to land one of Huddersfield’s Wells or Chelsea’s Bamford.
Villa supporters overwhelmingly stated that they want to signs Wells, as they believe he has the pace and flair they require upfront.
One fan suggested that he would prefer to get Wells, 26, on a permanent deal, rather than sign Bamford, 22, on loan for the Championship season.
Another fan pointed towards the Bermuda-born forwards performance against Villa on Tuesday night as a reason to purchase the versatile attacker, as he caused numerous problems for Di Matteo’s side.
Not too many fans advocated the signing of Bamford, as he is too similar to the club’s current striker Rudy Gestede.
Who do the Aston Villa fans want? Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Think #AVFC should get Nahki Wells anyway whether Bamford joins on loan or not lad seems to have everything pace flair and an eye for goal

Although I wouldn't be against us signing Bamford. I'd much rather see us sign Nahki Wells. Or if possible, Danny Ings. #AVFC

I think if we are interested in Wells, we should focus on him and consider Bamford as second option, not the other way round. #avfc

Would love Nakhi Wells at villa. Caused all sorts of problems against us. Can't see Huddersfield letting him go, still hoping tho ?? #avfc

Personally I would take Nahki Wells over a Bamford loan deal, think Wells looked very good when he came on against us #avfc

Bermuda-born Wells is the popular choice, and the 26-year-old has caught the eye of Villa supporters before.
He was part of the Bradford team that knocked Paul Lambert’s Villa out of the League Cup in 2013, with the talented forward opening the scoring in the first-leg.
Wells then moved to the Terriers in 2014, where the versatile forward scored 40 goals in 108 appearances, including 17 goals in the Championship last season.
Wells seems to be the popular choice, as his raw pace, directness and accurate shooting will provide a constant danger to Championship opposition.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, a host of European club’s are targeting this 26-year-old.
