Aston Villa midfielder Khalid Abdo has confirmed on Twitter that he is set to miss three months of action.
The 20-year-old went off injured during the Under-23s’ 3-0 defeat to Celtic at Villa Park on Wednesday night.
Abdo, who is a versatile midfielder, is yet to make a senior bow for Villa, after signing for the Midlands club in 2012 from Swedish Second Division outfit Larje-Angered as a teenager.
After the heavy defeat to Celtic, Abdo posted his message on his personal Twitter account:
Abdo has made six Premier League two appearances for Kevin McDonald’s side this term, where he has found the net on one occasion and picked up three yellow cards.
The highly-rated midfielder will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of academy product Jack Grealish, who is now an established first-team player in the Villa line-up.
Steve Bruce’s side are aiming for instant promotion this season as the former centre-back is unbeaten in his first five games in charge.
Villa recorded a 2-1 victory over Blackburn prior to the international break as they will now prepare for a tough away fixture at promotion chasing Brighton on November 18.
In other Aston Villa team news, Robbie Savage has claimed this Championship ace should have no excuses for his controversial lifestyle.
