Aston Villa were three minutes away from their first victory in 11 Premier League matches before two quick goals from Troy Deeney completely ruined their day.
Instead of celebrating a rare win at the end of a dismal season, the Villa players have added themselves to the history books by equaling a club record of the longest run of successive defeats.
The last time the Villians were beaten 11 times in a row was 1963, but as Stan Collymore keeps reminding us, this is a special Villa side.
There was plenty of fantastically cruel and hilarious reactions to Villa’s unfortunate demise in the game and you can enjoy the spectacle again through the best tweets below.
28th minute: Ciaran Clark heads Villa 1-0 up. It is the first time since December the Midlands side has gone in front in the Premier League.
47th minute: Almen Abdi strikes just before half-time to level the game and become the first Watford player to score directly from a free-kick this season.
48th minute: Jordan Ayew restores Villa’s lead after a slick one-two with Rudy Gestede.
73rd minute: Villa is reduced to ten men when full-back Aly Cissokho is sent off for bringing down Almen Abdi.
90th minute: Deeney rises highest at a free-kick to head Watford level in the final minute of normal time.
93rd minute: Deeney latches onto a loose ball in the box and gives Watford a dramatic victory.
On the bright side for Villa and their supporters, the nightmare is so nearly over with just two more games left to play.
In other Villa news, Collymore brilliantly trolls his former club yet again after Watford defeat.
