Aston Villa academy graduate Keinan Davis came off the bench to score two goals as the Midlands club thumped Worcester City 5-1 in a pre-season friendly- and supporters on Twitter were pleased with the team’s performance, despite the championship club going behind early on.
Roberto Di Matteo had set-up a double header for the squad with one game being played against non-league side Telford, where they were victorious, 2-1, and the other against Worcester.
As reported by Football Insider, Micah Richards and Leonardo Bacuna played no part in the games, while Lescott came on as a second half substitute – further indication that the manager is set to axe the trio.
18-year-old Davis replaced experienced striker Gabby Agbonlahor who got stick for his performance from supporters. The majority feel the youngsters should be given a chance ahead of the ex-Villa captain.
Four goals came from academy players, two from Davis, one from the club’s youngest ever Premier League player Rushian H-Murphy and the other from Jack Grealish, striker Libor Kozak added the other.
One supporter felt the youngsters should be given a chance in the Championship as they have the capabilities to put in performances in the second-tier.
