Athletic Bilbao are eyeing up a move for Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, Football Insider sources understand.
The La Liga club are admirers of the left-back and could be ready to pay around £7million to prise him from Emirates Stadium.
Monreal, who joined Arsenal from Malaga for £8million in January 2013, has two years remaining on his Gunners contract.
Arsene Wenger could decide to cash in on the Spain international, 29, rather than offer him a new deal, as is customary when a first-teamer at the club enters the final 24 months on his contract.
Monreal ended last season as Arsenal’s first-choice left-back ahead of Kieran Gibbs and was a key figure in the team’s renaissance in the second half of the campaign, which ended with an FA Cup triumph and a third-placed Premier League finish.
