Tottenham may have a battle on their hands to keep Eric Dier as Bayern Munich trail the England star, according to a report.
The Mirror, citing sister paper The Sunday People, claim that the 22-year-old has attracted the attention of Bayern’s recruitment team as the German outfit make checks on the former Sporting Lisbon ace ahead of a potential transfer.
The report suggests that the European giants have spoken to their pool of Premier League contacts in order to gain a better understanding of the player’s character.
Dier has caught the attention for England at Euro 2016 after following up his outstanding campaign for Spurs in an unfamiliar midfield anchorman role with equally adept displays at the highest level.
He even showed another side to his game when he scored a brilliant free-kick in England’s 1-1 draw against Russia.
Dier has become an integral figure for Spurs after he featured in all but one of their Premier League games thi season, scoring three goals and assisting two along the way.
The north London club recently completed an £11million deal for Southampton’s Victor Wanyama in a move that could leave the exit door open for Dier if a bid was to be made.
However, Bayern would have to pay a premium for the Cheltenham-born midfielder after he signed a new five-year deal with Spurs earlier this season.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs have missed out on Swiss sensation Breel Embolo after he agreed to join Schalke.
