Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom is preparing for a move to Red Bull Salzburg on a season-long loan deal, according to a report.

BBC Sport claim on their website that Wisdom, 23, will not have a reunion with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers at Celtic as he instead prepares for a move to Austria.

Liverpool academy graduate Wisdom, who has three years remaining on his contract, is set to spend the 2016-17 campaign at Salzburg.

The Sun had claimed that the defender was keen for his former manager Rodgers to give him a career lifeline after he dropped down the pecking order at Anfield behind undisputed first-choice right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

Wisdom spent last season at relegated Premier League side Norwich, but made just 14 appearances in all competitions.

According to The Liverpool Echo, the defender is one of six senior men that have been told they can leave the Merseyside club before Wednesday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Liverpool have already allowed fellow youngster Jordan Ibe to leave the club this summer on permanent deal, and it now appears that they could also be willing to let Wisdom spend time away from Anfield.

The Leeds-born defender has played 22 matches for Liverpool, after moving from Bradford City’s youth academy in 2008 at 15.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Danny Ings will remain at Liverpool for this season, according to a reliable journalist.
