Mason Holgate delivered another solid display against Stoke on Saturday and supporters gave him the biggest of compliments on Twitter.
Everton picked up their second win of the Premier League season with a 1-0 victory and remain unbeaten under Ronald Koeman.
The Merseyside club were slightly fortunate with their goal as Stoke’s Shay Given pushed Leighton Baines’ penalty on to the post, only to see the ball rebound back off him and into the net.
Holgate, 19, has now started all three of Everton’s league fixtures and helped his team keep their first clean sheet of the season in Saturday’s win.
The young defender also started the 4-0 EFL Cup victory against Yeovil and has emerged as a breakthrough star under Koeman.
Everton supporters have applauded Holgate on Twitter with some claiming he is already better than John Stones, who they sold to Manchester City for £50million this summer.
Here are a section of the Tweets:

Mason Holgate adding Arnautovic to things he’s picked up and put in his back pocket. Already got Dele Alli there.

Following his impressive performances, Hoglate has been named in Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 squad for the qualifying match against Norway.
The versatile defender has played both centre-back and right-back already for Koeman and looks set to fill-in for the sidelined Seamus Coleman.
In other Everton team news, Koeman sent a message to the club’s fans after their win over West Brom.
