Erik Lamela scored a stunning individual goal in Tottenham’s demolition job on Inter Milan on Friday – and Spurs fans praised their wide boy.

The Argentine winger scored the goal of the game as Spurs annihilated the Italians 6-1 in the pre-season friendly in Oslo.

With the score at 1-1, Lamela picked up possession 25 yards from goal and took a touch before curling the ball into the top right-hand-comer of the net.

His goal was preceded by a powerful Harry Kane penalty and an equalising strike from Ivan Perisic before further strikes from Dele Alli, Kane, Vincent Janssen and Shayon Harrison sealed an emphatic win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Fans of the north London club are clearly excited about their squad ahead of the new season, with one fan even claiming their winger was better than Messi.

Fans took to Twitter to share their views on the goal:

The 24-year-old Argentine international was a reinvigorated force last season under Mauricio Pochettino and seems intent on finding consistency at the highest level.

Lamela enjoyed a successful season last term as he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 44 appearances, helping Spurs to a third place finish and a spot in next season’s Champions League.

The fixture against Inter Milan will be the Londoners final pre-season game ahead of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Tottenham will face Everton at Goodison Park in just eight days time and will look to go one step further than competing for the title next season, and go on to win it.

In other Tottenham team news, Pochettino has named seven academy players in the Tottenham squad for Friday’s friendly against Inter Milan.
